Frequently Asked Questions

  • What should I expect?

During your initial appointment, your physical therapist will ask questions about your medical history, current limitations, goals, and habits. They will check your vitals, and assess your range of motion by having you perform different actions. They may palpate (assess tissue with their hands) and perform reflex tests that you would be familiar with from primary care appointments.

After that, your therapist will educate you on what they have found, and develop a plan of care for your treatment. They may perform manual therapy (like soft tissue or spinal manipulations), educate you on home care, and walk you through therapeutic exercises.

  • Why One on One?

Working one on one, you get your full hour session with a trained physical therapist. This allows our DPTs to cater their approach to what works best for you, creating a space for you to learn your body that much faster. In one on one appointments, we get to implement our total mind-body approach, which takes into consideration the environmental, physical, and mental factors impacting your health. You have your therapist’s full undivided attention to ask questions, review habits, and together make a plan of care.

  • How often should I have appointments?

This answer is different for everyone! You and your physical therapist will discuss your goals and establish a plan of care together. Many patients start with more frequent appointments and move to lower frequency as you progress. Different factors can impact the frequency and number of appointments: Severity of injury, rate of healing, neuroplasticity, and time spent on your reflections/home exercise plan.

  • What should I wear?

Wear something comfortable! Your clothing should be non-restricting, and breathable materials are best as you may work up a sweat. Typical gym clothes are perfect.

  • How long are appointments?

Physical Therapy appointments are 1 hour. Evaluation appointments may go up to 1 hr 15 min.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

Your appointment time is reserved just for you. A late cancellation or missed visit leaves a hole in the therapist’s day that could have been filled by another patient. As such, we require 24 hours notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment. Patients who provide less than 24 hours notice will be charged a fee of $50 to the card on file. No shows without advance notice will be charged the full amount of the appointment. You may cancel via Jane App, text, call, or email – whichever is easiest for you.

If you are feeling unwell or are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19, please let us know as soon as possible and we will be happy to help you reschedule your appointment.
