  • During your initial appointment, your physical therapist will ask questions about your medical history, current limitations, goals, and habits. They will check your vitals, and assess your range of motion by having you perform different actions. They may palpate (assess tissue with their hands) and perform reflex tests that you would be familiar with from primary care appointments.

After that, your therapist will educate you on what they have found, and work with you to develop a plan of care for your treatment. They may perform manual therapy (like soft tissue or spinal manipulations) if needed, educate you on home care, and walk you through therapeutic exercises.

If you have any questions during your treatment, please ask! The greater an understanding you have of your body, the better you and your physical therapist can work together to meet your goals.

  • As your appointment finishes, your next appointment based on your plan of care. The frequency can vary based a variety of factors, including your goals, severity of injury, healing times, and your overall schedule.
